We are very saddened to hear of the passing of our dear friend Mustapha Matura.
In 2014 Mustapha was awarded the Alfred Fagon Award for Outstanding Contribution to Writing. He was presented with the award from Yvonne Brewster OBE.
The following year his play Play Mas was revived by Orange Tree Theatre which then went on to win the Audience Award. This is him receiving the Audience Award from trustee Sheelagh Killeen Rees.
He came to the Awards whenever he could. This was him amongst his peers at last year’s awards.
Roland Rees produced Mustapha’s first play Black Pieces.
He will be sorely missed but his legacy will live on, inspiring new generations of writers.
